How do I know this is genuine Kasthuri Turmeric?
Check three things: the powder is cream to wheat-bran in colour (not bright yellow), it has a mild camphor-like aroma, and the rhizome's cut surface is cream rather than yellow. Ours is genuine Curcuma aromatica. Read our original vs fake guide for more.
Is it the same as the turmeric I use for cooking?
No. Kitchen turmeric is Curcuma longa and is deep yellow. Kasthuri Turmeric is a different species, traditionally used in face packs rather than food.
How do I use Kasthuri Turmeric Powder?
Mix the powder with milk, curd, rose water or honey into a smooth paste, apply it to clean skin and rinse off with water. Patch-test on your inner elbow 24 hours before first use.
Will it leave a yellow stain on my skin?
Genuine Kasthuri Turmeric is cream-coloured, so it doesn't leave the strong yellow tint regular turmeric does. A light tint, if any, rinses off with water.
Is it suitable for sensitive skin?
Most people use it without any trouble, but every skin is different. Patch-test on your inner elbow 24 hours before first use. Mix it with milk, curd or rose water rather than applying it dry.
Is Panam Kalkandu the same as regular sugar candy (kalkandu)?
No. Regular kalkandu is crystallised cane sugar. Panam Kalkandu is crystallised from palm sap and has a mild, earthy sweetness. Ours is made from palm sap alone, with nothing added.

Panam Kalkandu comes in different crystal sizes, for example Medium Crystals. Choose the size on the product page. The sizes listed there are the ones currently available.
